Cang Yuan, born in 1979, French painter holds a doctorate in aesthetics and graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts de Paris and the École supérieure d’arts plastiques de Paris. He has conducted extensive research on portrait painting by British painter Francis Bacon and has made significant contributions to philosophy, aesthetics, art history, and oil painting. Cang Yuan has participated in various exhibitions, including the Autumn Salon in France and the Contemporary Art Exhibition in Cannes, the 2014 Miami International Art Fair, and the 2019 Xi’an Silk Road International Art Festival and French Contemporary Art Duo Exhibition. He has also been awarded the Silver Award at the 2013 European Contemporary Art Academy Exhibition, the Artistic Achievement Award at the 2014 National Contemporary Art Academy Competition, and the Morgan City Award at the 2015 Cannes Contemporary Art Exhibition.
The artist imbues his works with a life attitude, presenting strange and fantastic landscapes with dazzling colors, blurred contours, and poetic imagery. Influenced by Francis Bacon, he breaks the established framework of space in his works, giving it a sense of “infinity,” while also integrating the generous and heroic spirit of northwest China and the language form of Western contemporary abstract art. He pays tribute to the magnificent Tang and Song dynasties and achieves the realm of “poetry in painting, painting in poetry.
